Why is my drain blocked?

Good question! This will largely depend on where the drain is blocked.

An inside blockage could be caused by something which shouldn’t have been washed down becoming stuck. This could be food, fat or grease, sanitary products, toilet paper, hair or any other bits and bobs ending up down the drain.

On the other hand, we’ve seen outside blockages caused by everything from leaves to plant and tree roots intruding on the drainage systems.

The good news is we’ll be able to quickly identify the problem – whether it’s through a visual inspection or through a CCTV survey – and identify a course of action to sort it as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.

What's a CCTV survey and why would I need one?

We send a small CCTV camera down the blocked drain to see what’s going on down there via a live feed. It gives us the perfect view of whatever’s causing the problem. Luckily, they haven’t made one which sends the smell back up to us yet…

This way, we can quickly diagnose the next steps for you. We’ll even let you have a look so you can see what’s going on.

 

Jetting and Rodding. What are those?

These are great ways to shift whatever’s stuck and causing the blockage.

We have a water tank on our vans which we then run through a hose at a huge pressure to blast the blockage away with a powerful jet of water.

Rodding uses a long, thin attachment of rods we pass into the drain to reach and dislodge what’s stuck and causing the blockage.

We offer both methods in combination to get the problem sorted.

Do I need to know what's causing the problem before I call you?

No! That’s our job!

All you need to do is call us. We’ll ask you a few questions about where the blockage is. We’ll have a fair idea of what’s going on from our conversation and by asking you the right things.

We can then diagnose the problem properly when we arrive and advise next steps.

What do you charge?

That’s easy to answer.

For our residential customers, it’s £95.00 per hour for the first hour. This includes call out. If we can’t fix it in the first hour, the subsequent hours are £60.00 each.

If you need our services on a retainer – you might be a business, landlord or letting agent – then we can discuss costs and service level agreement that works for you.
